Group I Busada 200® Butyrate tubing is stocked in 20 foot lengths. Long-radius bends and transparent connecting sleeves are available for this line of tubing. Thus, complete assemblies of straight lengths, bends and slip-fit external sleeves may be constructed for pneumatic conveying systems. Rectangular sections are also available. For non-stock custom extruded sizes call 540-967-2882.

We also make Group 1 sizes in Provista, (PETG),Tritan and Polycarbonate to order, food grade and NSF compliant.

Strength

Busada 200®CAB rigid plastics tubing is remarkably resistant to physical, environmental and chemical assault. It meets optimum specifications from impact strength and physical stress. Extruded from the most weather resistant butyrate compound, it contains additives inhibitors that resist natural and artificial UV radiation. Extensive testing has established that Busada 200® tubing retains its full complement of characteristics - strength, clarity, versatility, interior smoothness - for prolonged periods of exposure to adverse conditions, including many chemicals and reagents. Weatherability

Butyrate vs Acrylic in outdoor weathering valve stems.

Recently Lisa Pugh of the Louisa County Water Authority paid us a visit. She brought some 2" and 3" pipe sections from Weir valves at a waste treatment plant. It is worth a picture to compare our butyrate tubing with the used acrylic tubing that she brought in. (See Below)

Acrylic cannot survive long in an outdoor environment. We recommend UV Stabilized butyrate for all outdoor applications. CAB 576E has about the best UV stabilization in the business and, depending on location can last over a decade in outside environments.

 

To the Left: Acrylic tubing from months-old to several years old. Notice the yellowing, to browning. The tube (second to the left) was only in use for less than one year. With the color change comes easy breaking.

Butyrate tubing, even after some long-term stress cracking will remain structurally sound for years.


 

Shatter Resistance

Anyone who has used a screw driver handle to pound in a nail, would have first hand experience with the durability of Tenite™. Though Tenite ™has been used to produce products such as tool handles ,toothbrushes, designer sunglasses, and other fashionable items, it remains the go-to material for safe and long-lasting use because of its excellent heat, chemical, and impact resistance.

Versatility

Machining
Tenite can be worked with most tools used for machining wood or metal. Tool speeds should be such that the plastic material does not melt from frictional heat. In general, the highest speed at which overheating the tool or plastic does not occur will give best results.

Bending
Hot or cold bending can be used to produce simple shapes from Tenite profiles. The maximum amount of bend will depend on the extruded shape, thickness, and rate of deflection. An electric strip heater set at optimum profile temperature may be used for hot bending.

Drilling
Drills designed especially for plastics are available, and their use is suggested for drilling Tenite cellulosic plastics; however, standard twist drills used for drilling metal or wood can be satisfactory as long as speeds and feed rates are kept modest.

Sawing
Tenite can be sawed with any saw used for wood or metal— circular saws, band saws, saber saws, jigsaws, hacksaws, or handsaws. Some of these saws, however, are better suited for sawing plastics because they produce smoother or faster cuts than others. Circular and band saws usually produce the best surfaces, and they can be used in most sawing operations.

Solvent polishing
An effective method of eliminating fine surface scratches and producing a high gloss on cellulose plastics is solvent polishing. The article is usually dipped or wiped with a suitable solvent and then dried. Some solvent mixtures that have been used successfully for dip-polishing

Clarity

The inherent clarity of Busada 200® rigid plastics tubing is extraordinary. Both CAB and PETG lines are crystal clear and ideal for applications that rely on visual inspection. Equally important, distortion is minimal - even in ½” wall thicknesses. And the extremely smooth interior of Busada 200® hard clear plastics tubing provides excellent low-drag conveyance advantages.
